Fran Abbott Tribute

The Earth Day Festival remembers fondly our own Earth Mother, Fran Abbott, who passed away on March 4, 2008.  She was born February 19, 1940 in San Francisco.

Fran will forever be remembered as a woman committed to discovery, advocacy and teaching, who radiated loving kindness in even the most everyday activity or interaction.  She lived her life enthusiastically and to its fullest prior to experiencing a short period of illness that preceded her death.

Fran was a visionary and change-maker that motivated others with her playful and passionate spirit.  She chose to see the infinite possibility for good in all people, her community and the world.

Those of us who have worked with Fran on the Earth Day Festival and other projects will miss her smile, spirit and joy.   As tribute to her dedication and tireless efforts in mentoring young people, we have initiated a scholarship/grant program in her name for students and teachers to promote environmental education in schools throughout our community.

 We think Fran would have liked that.
